Amy Tinkler is a British artistic gymnast. She is a 2016 Olympic floor exercise bronze medalist and the 2015 British all-around champion
Tinkler competed at the 2016 AT&T American Cup in Newark, New Jersey on 5th March 2016. She came fourth with a score of 55.932 Later that month, Tinkler finished second in the all-around at the 2016 English Championships, behind Claudia Fragapane. In July, British Gymnastics announced that she had been selected as a member of the British team at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. At age 16, she was the youngest member of Team GB. Tinkler won the bronze medal in the floor exercise with a score of 14.933, finishing behind Americans Simone Biles and Aly Raisman. She was the first British woman to win a medal in the floor event in Olympics history

Amy Tinkler had an interest in becoming a world class gymnast since she was a very young girl. Growing up in the U.K., she didn’t have as much access to top notch coaching like the top U.S. girls but she was determined to make a name for herself. She began training at a very young age and proved she belonged among the elite that were her age. She was even competitive with much older girls who had a lot more experience.
She became a British Champion in 2015. She achieved success at a very young age but handled it with a lot of maturity. She qualified for the British national team at age 16.
Coming into the Rio Floor Exercise competition, Amy wasn’t exactly on many people’s radar as a favorite to capture a medal but that’s exactly what she did. She’s serving as an inspiration for other young women because she was able to achieve a bronze medal against heavyweights like Simone Biles. She is now looking forward to 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo as a favorite in the all around.
