Von Miller signs $114.5M Contract

Miller was born in Dallas, Texas to parents Von and Gloria Miller. His parents, who were both athletes in high school and college, own a power supply business. He has a younger brother Vinsynzie “Vins”.
Having majored in poultry science at Texas A&M, Miller operates his own farm, raising chickens.

Von Miller was always an outstanding athlete. He excelled at both track and field while playing at a high level on the football gridiron at DeSoto High School in Desoto, Texas.
He was a 4-star recruit with offers from all over the country at the programs but because he was close and comfortable with his Texas community he decided to stay back home and play football at Texas A&M. His impact was felt immediately on the field and in the locker room. He exhibited great talent but also tremendous leadership on and off the field.
After ranking as the top defensive player for the 2011 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos selected Von Miller as the #2 overall pick. The expectations were immediately set that he’d would transform the Broncos’ defense. A combination of size, strength and agility set Von apart from the other outside linebackers in the league. He responded to the pressure with an outstanding rookie campaign that resulted in Von Miller being selected the NFL the Defensive Rookie of the Year.
Von continued to be a top defensive player in the NFL for many seasons. He won the 2016 Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos and was named MVP. His contract was up with the Broncos and he wanted max dollars for his value. He was rewarded with a $114.5M contract on July 15, 2015. $70M of this deal was guaranteed. This made him the league’s second highest player after the $87M guaranteed to Indianapolis Colt’s QB Andrew Luck and the highest paid defensive player ever in the NFL. J.J. Watts has been put on notice. There is a new sheriff in town.
Von was an instant celebrity following his Super Bowl performance. He was asked and accepted to participate on the 22nd Dancing With The Stars. His partner was Whitney Carson. Von was a sensation and a boost for ratings. Subsequently, his jersey sales increased and he is steadily becoming one of the NFL’s rising stars.
